To reach our cabin, you will travel over approximately 2 miles of occasionally rough dirt ranch roads. Low clearance vehicles, such as sports cars, are not recommended. Regular passenger cars, driven with care, are suitable to reach the cabin, although pick-up trucks, vans, SUV's & crossover vehicles are recommended. It is suggested you arrive before dark, as there are no street lights.
We provide a free shuttle service to and from Tombstone. Free parking is provided at the cabin.
The Tombstone Silver Nickel Cabin was named after the Silver Nickel Mining Company, which was a former owner of the property. No mining was done on the property. The home is located on 5 private acres of open desert, on a ranch road, about 2 miles north of Tombstone, off of historic Middle March Road. This was the route originally used by the U.S. Cavalry to travel from Ft. Bowie, Arizona over the Dragoon Mountains to Ft. Huachuca, Arizona during the latter half of the nineteenth century. The home sits atop a gentle sloping hill, with a great view of Tombstone and an amazing panoramic view of nearby mountain ranges. Sit on the front porch and enjoy the serenity of the desert, wildlife and nearby mountains. In the evening, sit around the camp fire & enjoy the spectacular starry skies and the lights of Tombstone. Hike or ride your ATV’s on local ranch roads and trails. Local destinations include historic 100 year old railroad beds, Cochise Stronghold in the Dragoon Mountains and the Coronado National Forest. We are just minutes from Tombstone, but near the middle of nowhere!
We are near the middle of nowhere, which is a fantastic area for relaxing on the porch and watching wildlife, birding, hiking, ATV’s, bicycling, motorcycling, trail riding, rock climbing, star gazing, painting, exploring historic sites and old railroad beds.
We provide bottled water, salt & pepper, olive oil, half & half, sugar, sweetener, ground coffee & tea. There are several convenience stores & a dollar store in Tombstone, about 4 miles away. There are major grocery stores in Benson, Sierra Vista & Willcox.
We have a full kitchen, including a large refrigerator/freezer, stove top & oven, microwave oven, 12-cup coffee maker, a French press coffee maker, toaster, dishes, glasses, pots & pans and utensils.
