Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: The property is as described - rather comfortable, nice and clean. There is plenty of space inside and outside the apartment to spend time if you travel with children or friends. A car is needed to get there. There is parking under a shed. The place is quiet, but the soundproofing is modest, so if you are unlucky enough to have noisy neighbours, you will hear everything. We were lucky, and we spent two days comfortably. However, our impression was totally spoiled from the very beginning because the host requests that you sign a contract with your own signature (which I personally never provide without a serious need) AFTER booking, without warning about it beforehand. In my view, this is unlawful. See the explanation below. The place is nice, but we will not come again.
Negative: Future guests should be aware of the following specific requirements before booking. 1. Contract imposed after booking My reservation was made through Booking.com, which was the principal booking framework under which I chose and paid for the accommodation. A person booking accommodation through the Booking.com platform expects a similar approach to check-in and check-out as at any hotel, whether it is a Hilton or a private property, with the conditions of stay to be disclosed and agreed at the time of booking. Meanwhile, after completing a Booking.com reservation, I was required to sign a separate contract that had not been disclosed or made available to me before booking. Our need for a place to stay arose urgently, and the booking was non-refundable, leaving me no realistic option but to sign. Had I known before booking that such a contract and personal signature would be required, I would not have booked. The owners should know that Article R. 212-1(1) of the French Consumer Code expressly identifies as abusive provisions having the effect of making a consumer adhere to terms contained in another document that was not expressly referred to at the time of contracting and that the consumer had not seen before concluding the contract. 2. Substantial checkout chores There are substantial checkout chores rather than simply leaving the property reasonably tidy. A €65 cleaning fee is charged, yet upon checkout guests are asked to strip all beds, remove all rubbish and wash all dishes (by hand, because despite a dishwasher being provided, no dishwasher tablets are supplied). We always bring tablets with us just in case our needs exceed the amount given, but in our extensive experience of staying in different countries, hosts have always provided them when there is a dishwasher. We did everything requested except unmaking the beds. Sorry, but it is simply “too much” for a paid cleaning service.
